Last year was fun, and hopefully 2022 is even better! Some of my picks for this list are just around the corner, and some I’ve been waiting years to finally happen. If all goes right, 2022 will be one great payoff after another. With that said, here is the movie, tv show, video game, comic, novel, and sporting event I’m most looking forward to this new year.Continue reading “Most Anticipated of 2022”
2021 was still a crazy year when compared to just about any other, but at least life returned to some semblance of normalcy after the tumultuous 2020. Thanks to vaccines, society has been able to safely reconvene on a more frequent basis, getting back to the gatherings and activities that slowed dramatically due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I’m thankful to be vaccinated (and boosted, no less!), and I hope everyone continues to take precautions so that as many of us as possible can stay healthy during this time.
I’m grateful that artists and content creators in all fields were able to get back to their work similar to pre-Covid conditions and entertain us. Heaven knows we all need a distraction once in a while as we navigate a global pandemic. There were a lot of great offerings this year, making a my decision in a few of these categories among the most difficult that I’ve ever made for as long as I’ve done this end of year list.Continue reading “Best of 2021”
This is certainly late as far as a “summer” update goes. According to the calendar, we’re closer to Halloween than we are to the 4th of July. But all this means is that it’ll be a much shorter gap than usual before my next seasonal update after this!
Just a few weeks ago, I finally took the next step in my artistic endeavors that I’ve been looking forward to for a while. I have now begun the transition to digital art. After weeks of research to determine what products would be best for my current skillset and for what I ultimately want to accomplish with drawing, I ended up getting a Wacom One tablet alongside a MacBook Pro. Said MacBook model came with a hefty amount of storage (1 TB, to be precise), so I should be able to use this for a long time as I’m storing all of the files I draw on Clip Studio Paint.Continue reading “Summer 2021 Update”
It’s now been a full year since I completed my first major literary work, The Legend of Light trilogy. This has been the longest that I’ve gone without writing fiction in well over a decade. Even when I wasn’t writing a series of novels, I was always writing some kind of story for the majority of my life. My pre-teen and teen years saw me work on all kinds of lengthy fan fiction stories for some of my favorite franchises like The Legend of Zelda, Godzilla, and Gundam. In college I put together several short stories to ease my way into the publishing business, before eventually jumping head first in a series of high fantasy novels.
In some regards, it’s felt odd not spending hours per week entrenched in a massive Microsoft Word document, but at the same time it has also been very refreshing. I needed this break to assess what my life goals are, and what I want to do more than anything else when it comes to my artistic pursuits.Continue reading “Spring 2021 Update”
Whether 2021 sees our world return to some semblance of normalcy, or it remains more of the same from the turbulent 2020, there is still a lot of entertainment I’m looking forward to in the next year. Maybe I still won’t be able to sit down in a movie theater, or go cheer on the Buffalo Bills at Bills Stadium for a game, but I’ll be happy just to have the opportunity to enjoy any of it, no matter how I have to experience it. Here is the movie, tv show, video game, comic book, novel, and sporting event I’m most excited for in 2021.Continue reading “Most Anticipated of 2021”
Fictional entertainment and pop culture are my life, but I’ve never been more appreciative of them than I was throughout the unprecedented year that was 2020. When there was so much uncertainty and fear with the spread of the Coronavirus that completely changed every day life as we know it, escapism entertainment was a perfect way to unplug and find a little enjoyment. Given how many industries were shut down because of the pandemic, I’m just thankful we got as many releases and events as we did! I’ve done this end of year list naming my favorite movie, television show, video game, comic, novel, and sporting event several times now, but I think this one might go down as the most special to me, as all of these picks went a long way to keeping me positive throughout 2020.Continue reading “Best of 2020”
I’m sure that there are a lot of artists who have used all of the downtime in 2020 to get far more work done than they would have in a normal year, but I admittedly have used most of 2020 to rest and recharge. After I finished writing The Legend of Light trilogy back in April, I told myself that I was going to take a nice, long break from fiction writing. I’ve stayed active one way or another, what between all of my writing done for Zelda Universe, and my ongoing pursuits of learning how to draw in the style of manga, but I kept my efforts in check even with those. The more than seven years of writing a high fantasy series was, honestly, exhausting. It also solidified that my true artistic goals are in a more visual medium, which is why I intend to focus on learning to draw so that I can someday put together a comic series.Continue reading “Winter 2020 Update”
It has been quite the year, to say the least. Like any person in the world, my daily life has experienced some form of impact from the Covid-19 pandemic, although I am extremely thankful to say that my loved ones and I have all remained happy and healthy during this time.
The world certainly slowed down during 2020, and I have done my best to make the most of this period while life is far more quiet than normal. I had plenty of time at home earlier in the year while I was only working a day or two a week, which gave me lots of opportunity to write and draw. If I wasn’t leaving the house anywhere near as much as before, I was going to make good use of the downtime and stay productive.Continue reading “Fall 2020 Update”
I made a few minor updates to the various pages on the site here. My free time has definitely opened up dramatically since completing work on The Legend of Light trilogy. I must thank everyone, again, for their support as I wrote that series. I am incredibly grateful for the wonderful fans who have read the books and immersed themselves in the world of Tordale.
I am thrilled, proud, and even a little relieved to announce that The Legend of Light trilogy is finally complete. The third book in the series, Radiant Fate, just released on Amazon and is available in both paperback format, and on all Kindle Devices.
