Most Anticipated of 2016

I really wish I had more time on my hands, because I could spend hours writing about the seemingly-endless movies, video games, and tv shows set to release this year, along with the laundry list of books and comics that I plan to read throughout 2016. It’s going to be another busy year for me just when it comes to my entertainment choices, but I can’t wait to jump in on it all. Until then, here’s my list of what’s got me most excited for the year.

Best of 2015

Well, that was a fun year! 2015 kept me busy, sometimes far more than I ever asked it to, but I look back on it very fondly. There were numerous comic cons attended, plenty of progress made in my book, The Luminous Legend, and far too many entertaining movies, books, comics, and video games that I enjoyed. Just as I did for 2014, I’m here to narrow down my favorite pieces of entertainment media from 2015.

Second Excerpt for Radiant Fate – A Strange, Far Away World

It’s been a little while since I’ve posted an update on my writing, so there’s probably no better time to do that than when I’m finally beginning to hit my stride with the third and final book in The Luminous Legend.

Truthfully, I’m not as far along in the writing as I had hoped to be. In fact, I’m way behind. I’ve encountered some unforeseen difficulties with writing this part of the story, much of which came from an insufficient amount of preparation, but also occasionally was because of some nasty writer’s block that was going to rear its ugly head no matter what I did.

Turn Off Game of Thrones and Put On Mad Max or The Legend of Korra

I don’t claim to be an avid follower of the A Song of Ice and Fire franchise, neither the novels, nor the television show, Game of Thrones.

But I know what happened on Sunday night’s episode, and I also know it was far from the first time that rape has been casually tossed into the story, whether it be on the page or on the screen.

Among countless other instances of gruesome and gratuitous maiming—done in order to elicit an emotional response from the audience—the vile amount of rapes that occur in Game of Thrones and the novels it’s based upon continues to be the reason why I will never support that putrid franchise.

First Excerpt of Radiant Fate

I’ve been waiting a while to put up a new snippet from one of my books up on here, and after finishing the first draft of what I’ve intended to be the second novel in The Luminous Legend series, now seems like the perfect time to provide a sneak peek. This doesn’t mean I’m anywhere near done with my work; I’ve got months of proofreading and revisions ahead of me, and that’s on top of writing the third and final part of the series, which I’m still not entirely sure will be it’s own book, or will be combined into the second part of the series as one big book.

But that’s another concern for another time. Until then, here’s an excerpt from Radiant Fate, the continuation of the adventure that I began with this past summer’s Echoes of Light. In this teaser, the main character, Alamor, has a somber discussion with Prince Tridian about the late King Hokara’s campaign to reclaim the war-torn desert known as the Arid Reaches, and bring it under the royal family’s prosperous sovereignty.

Most Anticipated of 2015

The new year is in full swing, and as a companion piece to my last post from 2014, where I listed my favorite pieces of media from the previous year, I thought it only fitting to name what’s got me most excited for 2015. Just like before, I’m listing the movie, book, television show, comic, video game, and sports event/moment that I’m most eagerly anticipating within the coming year. And also just like before, not every last one of these are being released for the first time in 2015, but this year will be the first time that I experience them.

Best of 2014

I’ve been brainstorming an end of the year piece to put up here for weeks now, because if there was ever a year that deserved some special reflection on my part, it was definitely 2014. The past year was maybe the most memorable of life; I can’t think of another where I had as much fun as I did, where I enjoyed as many accomplishments as I did, and when I grew as I much as I did.

At the same time, I know the time and place to get emotional, and this isn’t it. No one wants to read me pour my heart out like a melodramatic actor, that’s what my fiction is for! Instead, I wanted to do something a little more fun and nifty as my way to close out 2014 on my page here, and it was just a few days ago that I came up with the perfect idea—my picks for my favorite pieces of entertainment throughout the year. These are the stories and moments that made me smile the broadest, and kept my imagination stirring for the longest.  Not all of these picks were necessarily released this year, as you’ll learn with my choice for my favorite book (my reading list is far too long to keep up with recently-released books), but instead were what I indulged in at some point throughout 2014.

So Long, Summer

If you follow that whole calendar thing, summer is over as of four days ago. Personally, I think that’s a load of hooey, it’s nearly 75 degrees outside and as sunny as any day in July while I sit here and write this. But at least this time, I’ll follow the crowd and accept that autumn is now upon us.

That makes me think back to the last couple of months and remember what an awesome summer I had, probably the best of my life. Those are some bold words, especially given some of my more memorable summers from previous years, but 2014’s will really go down as a special one for me. It seemed like every week I had some exciting event to look forward to, and when I look back at them, I do so with fond memories of each one.

Ebook is out

It’s been a long time coming, but the Kindle ebook version of Echoes of Light, my debut fantasy novel and the first in the Luminous Legend trilogy was released yesterday on Amazon. It’s at the very affordable price of just $.99, which I intend to keep permanent. It’s my first big work and I’d like as many people to read it as possible, so no reason to charge serious money for it. I’m much more concerned with getting exposure than I am cash.

One more for good measure

If you’ve kept tabs around here while I’ve posted excerpts from my upcoming book Echoes of Light, you’ve seen three snippets that center around very different subject matter from one another. The first was an action sequence; a duel between the main character, Alamor, and a winged monster. The second was a showcase of the story’s villain, namely his overwhelming power and evil. The third was a look into the life and culture of the one of the unique races I created which populate the world that the story takes place in.
