Interview With Artist Dara Gold
I first became familiar with Dara Gold and her art a few years ago when I came across her booth at Niagara Falls Comic Con. A friend of mine was particularly interested in a Magikarp drawing she had done, while her Wind Waker print was what caught my eye. Knowing she was a huge Legend of Zelda fan, like myself, I would later have her draw me a commission of Kaepora Gaebora, from Ocarina of Time.
Interview With Pam Hage – The Artist Behind The Legend of Light’s Covers
Working with artist Pam Hage on the covers of all three books in The Legend of Light has been nothing but a pleasure since day one. She’s as busy as she is talented, which is why I’ve always been very grateful to have her illustrating the cover art for what is my first series of novels.
I’ve commented on the creative process between us several times through posts for The Legend of Light’s Facebook page, but social media updates only allow for so much info. Just the same, it sounds a lot better coming from the artist, herself. Pam was nice enough to take a few minutes from her hectic schedule to participate in a little interview, where she offered lots of insight into the creation of the book’s various cover art. The illustration for Book One, Echoes of Light, is featured on this website’s primary header, featuring the main character Alamor; the illustration for Book Two, The Gleaming Path, is featured at the top of this specific piece, where you see the other main character in the story, Princess Raissa Hokara.

Echoes of Light Excerpt – The Beloved Princess
At the start of The Legend of Light, the kingdom of Tordale is still reeling from the untimely death of King Arthus Hokara. Since his wife, Saruma Hokara, passed away many years prior, it leaves Princess Raissa (21 years old) and her brother, Prince Tridian (28 years old) with the enormous responsibility to rule the kingdom–a task that is thrust upon them far sooner than they ever expected. The two inexperienced leaders are weighed down the pressure of their authority every day of their lives. Raissa is very much out of her element in politics, but she remains a beloved figure in the eyes of the people for her winsome personality. Even if “ruling” isn’t quite one of her skills, just yet, Raissa is more than capable of inspiring all of the races across Tordale with her grace and compassion.

Echoes of Light Excerpt – Wraithlings, the Pawns of Scourge
The first book in The Legend of Light trilogy will be releasing in early-mid 2018, so I’m planning all sorts of previews and snippets to show off as we close in on the publication date. Short Story – “A Gift for the Guardian”
Got another one of my personal favorite short stories appearing here this week. If I recall correctly, this was the very last short story that I wrote before I began working on my trilogy of young-adult fantasy novels, The Luminous Legend.
In this tale, you’ll be following a young prince who boldly sets off to meet with a monstrous creature. There’s some debate amongst the peoples of the land as to whether the creature’s title of “The Guardian” is fitting, or if the creature is more of a menace, than anything else. My love of giant monsters naturally played a role in this story’s creation, but my greatest inspiration behind it was the famous scene in The Hobbit where Bilbo Baggins first meets Smaug and has an extended conversation with the great dragon.
The Luminous Legend Excerpt – The Queen of the Ocean
If you’ve visited this website in the past, you probably saw a very different banner from what I’ve got now sitting at the top. That beautiful piece of artwork depicts the main character from my upcoming book, The Luminous Legend, who’s name is Alamor. I was lucky enough to commission a piece from an incredible young artist named Pam Hage, which will now serve as the artwork for the cover the book. As we get closer to the release of the book, I plan to put a full write-up here on this website that details the process Pam and I went through conceptualizing the art, including some of the early sketches that she did.
The real exciting part is that may not be long of a wait; I’m happy to say that the finish line is in sight, and I expect to complete the book within the next couple of months. I think it’s fair to say that a summer release is extremely likely, at this point. So, with that said, I’d say it’s time to drop another excerpt from the book here.
