After many years of work, my time writing The Legend of Light trilogy is nearing its end. Myself and my amazing team of proofreaders are deep into the editing process on the final book’s manuscript, which I completed the first draft of earlier this year. Book 3, Radiant Fate, is coming together nicely, and while I cannot provide a guaranteed release date at this moment, I am fairly confident that it will debut sometime in December. As with the other books in the series, it be available on Amazon in print and Kindle format.
My very helpful proofreaders and I are currently in the process of editing the manuscript for Book 2 in The Legend of Light, A Gleaming Path. I can’t put an exact date on a publication at this point, but we are very much well on our way to finishing this, and I can confidently say that we will see a print version sooner rather than later.
As we creep closer to that inevitable release, I’m here to continue offering glimpses into the story with exclusive excerpts straight from the manuscript. Two major additions to the story in A Gleaming Path are featured here. In this middle entry to The Legend of Light trilogy, readers will get to know more of the mysterious, reclusive Aesur people, who live on the highest peaks in the Tower Mountains, and have developed a form of magic called Airtaming, where they manipulate the winds and air currents to their whim. One of those Aesur in the spotlight is Elisstriss, Dayneth’s younger sister, who is one of the mightiest Airtamers of them all.
Earlier this year, The Legend of Light kicked off its adventure with the opening volume, The Echoes of Light. This is a young adult, high fantasy trilogy that any fan of such series like The Legend of Zelda, Shannara, Earthsea, and The Chronicles of Narnia should enjoy, one filled with magic, myths, monsters, and loads of action.
A reawakened terror swept across the kingdom of Tordale in Book One, forcing our heroes like the young swordsman, Alamor, and the princess of the kingdom, Raissa Hokara, into action. After obtaining the sacred vessel of magic known as the Radia of Gallantry, Alamor, Raissa, and their companions still have a long journey ahead of them, one which will take them across the oceans surrounding Tordale, and into the perilous desert, the Arid Reaches. Both Alamor and Raissa will continue to develop their understanding of the supreme power they wield, while facing some of Tordale’s bloodiest secrets.
In the land of Tordale, magic is as diverse as the many living beings which call the continent home. Different forms of the intangible energy can allow one to accomplish a seemingly-boundless variety of feats that could not be achieved by hand or willpower, alone. There are certain scenes that stay with you, that you can remember detail for detail off the top of your head. Especially in the case of an author, there are scenes that are so important to you, that you never forget every last thought and feeling that swirled through your body as you were writing a particular moment in your story.
At the start of The Legend of Light, the kingdom of Tordale is still reeling from the untimely death of King Arthus Hokara. Since his wife, Saruma Hokara, passed away many years prior, it leaves Princess Raissa (21 years old) and her brother, Prince Tridian (28 years old) with the enormous responsibility to rule the kingdom–a task that is thrust upon them far sooner than they ever expected. The two inexperienced leaders are weighed down the pressure of their authority every day of their lives. Raissa is very much out of her element in politics, but she remains a beloved figure in the eyes of the people for her winsome personality. Even if “ruling” isn’t quite one of her skills, just yet, Raissa is more than capable of inspiring all of the races across Tordale with her grace and compassion.
The first book in The Legend of Light trilogy will be releasing in early-mid 2018, so I’m planning all sorts of previews and snippets to show off as we close in on the publication date. Most will appear on the series’ Facebook page, which, if you ‘Like’, you automatically are entered for a chance to win a free copy of book one, Echoes of Light, just before the book’s release.
If you’ve visited this website in the past, you probably saw a very different banner from what I’ve got now sitting at the top. That beautiful piece of artwork depicts the main character from my upcoming book, The Luminous Legend, who’s name is Alamor. I was lucky enough to commission a piece from an incredible young artist named Pam Hage, which will now serve as the artwork for the cover the book. As we get closer to the release of the book, I plan to put a full write-up here on this website that details the process Pam and I went through conceptualizing the art, including some of the early sketches that she did.
The real exciting part is that may not be long of a wait; I’m happy to say that the finish line is in sight, and I expect to complete the book within the next couple of months. I think it’s fair to say that a summer release is extremely likely, at this point. So, with that said, I’d say it’s time to drop another excerpt from the book here.
I’ve been waiting a while to put up a new snippet from one of my books up on here, and after finishing the first draft of what I’ve intended to be the second novel in The Luminous Legend series, now seems like the perfect time to provide a sneak peek. This doesn’t mean I’m anywhere near done with my work; I’ve got months of proofreading and revisions ahead of me, and that’s on top of writing the third and final part of the series, which I’m still not entirely sure will be it’s own book, or will be combined into the second part of the series as one big book.
But that’s another concern for another time. Until then, here’s an excerpt from Radiant Fate, the continuation of the adventure that I began with this past summer’s Echoes of Light. In this teaser, the main character, Alamor, has a somber discussion with Prince Tridian about the late King Hokara’s campaign to reclaim the war-torn desert known as the Arid Reaches, and bring it under the royal family’s prosperous sovereignty.
